Diplocaulus is a prehistoric amphibian with a Boomerang shaped head. It was 3 ft long.
This amphibian's head probably kept predators from eating easily, and this head probably acted like a hydrofoil so it could glide in the water. This amphibian had a stocky, salamander like body. This animal lived during the Early and Late Permian. It swam up and down probably because its weak limbs and short tail made it hard so swim sideways. Rare fossils show that diplocaulus' boomerang head was connected to the body by skin flaps.
