Frogs by Jack

Frogs are a type of animal called an amphibian. An amphibian can live in water and land. Frogs  breath through their skin. They call for mates with a croaking sound in their throat. Their skin is semi-permeable, which means they perish if on land too long. Frog eggs go through a stage of metamorphosis, they change over time into frogs. You probably know this already. Frog legs are valued as food for humans, their legs taste like mild chicken! Frogs have bright colors to warn predators like a poisonous tree frog. The biggest frogs are the size of dinner plates! These are I think Goliath Frogs or American Bull frog. Frogs have no tails, but in the metamorphic stage, they are born with tails. Some frogs even eat birds! One ancient amphibian, the Koolasuchus, was a huge, black amphibian with a large tail. This thing ate dinosaurs! Many frogs camouflage in leaves. They have almost 360 Degree eyesight and binocular vision! I'm pretty sure toads and frogs are relatives. There is something called a Golden Toad which was last seen in 1989! Sadly, this animal is extinct. Or is it?! >:-|. This toad's lifespan is unknown but its family lives up to 10-12. People in school sometimes dissect frogs to study them. I used to own 2 small frogs and you could see their intestines! It was crazy! It was crazy! You could see the stomach and other parts! The skin was transparent enough to see the inside! Frogs are amazing or slimy! You can find them almost everywhere! Except some deserts and mountains. Frogs have many ways to defend themselves. Frogs are very interesting creatures. They are awesome!

seed finn

Seed Dispersion are the things that plants need to live.

1.Wind
It is  one of the things that plants need to live- helicopter seed spreads are when they spread from a super high wind. Then there is parachute, its where they go high and go down like a parachute from a plane.

2. Water is mainly what plants need to live. Everyone needs it to live. Good floaters and waterproof.

3. Animals make seeds sometimes, creature dung is used to freshen soil, (NOT IN THE TOILET)

4.Explosions are the last thing plants need to live. Maybe it spreads wind or something. Maybe they need sunglasses to watch it. The wind spreads the seeds.                                                                     ☢---☢ nuclear explosion

Seed Dispersion By Jack

Seeds always find a way to disperse no matter where they are. Dispersion means to spread out. There are 4 ways to disperse for plants. Wind, Water, Animals, and !Explosions!  Wind is the most common way for seeds to spread. There are 2 forms of seed shapes that help them spread. The first is helicopter. The seed is shaped like a wing and then spin around and around. It then catches the wind and spreads. The next is a parachute. It floats slowly to the ground and then flies away. The next is water. This has only 1 way to spread. They are waterproof and light. Things like sea bean and coconut float to other islands and are planted.

Animals help seeds spread very efficiently. One way is that the seed is shaped like a hook and sticks to animals e.g deer and then spread! Another way is that seeds land in their food and they get pooped out. The poop can help the plants like fertilizer. Another way is squirrels bury and move the seeds to where they put it. And finally the 'explosions'. They are not really explosions just seed pods bursting. These pods burst and then the seeds are dispersed by the wind.

Mclaren Automotive

Mclaren Automotive, commonly referred to as Mclaren, is a British automotive manufacturer of high-performance vehicles. The company was established as Mclaren Cars in 1989 as a producer of road cars based on Formula One Technology, and supercars and in 2009, a new company was made and known as Mclaren Racing, the F1 constructor and is a spinoff of the Mclaren Group.

Mclaren 675LT Left side on bottom.

Bruce McLaren was killed testing a McLaren M8D at Goodwood in 1970.

  • He made the racing team and I think the company or someone he knew, when he died made the supercars.
    Dunno. Tell me :/

<---- One thing we know about that car that if Bruce died of that, it must've went insanely fast. I think it is banned on F1 races, if people still race with it today.

Mclaren's supercar models, dunno who made them but THEY ROCK! I went to a car show with my dad, and we saw a Mclaren 675LT! It was amazing!
Rear of the Mclaren 675LT.  SO COOL!
We saw other cool models, but let's get back to what they did with Mclaren.

Mclaren F1 or FI people think it is the rarest. It is used in races, but other F1 racers think it should be in supercar races. Compare these for me:,.
What's the difference? I guess they meant different cars.

Tornadoes

You guys know that there are tornadoes over in Louisiana right? Well I'm going to talk about tornadoes today :) Tornadoes are also called cyclones, twisters, and hurricanes (tornadoes on water). They are measured by F0-F5 on their size. 5 is the strongest. Many do not have power right now. Over 9000 homes! Most tornadoes spin less than 110 mph. They go 300 mph an hour.

These things pick up dirt, debris, even water! This tornado is causing a lot of wind where we are. Its raining a lot here too. Tornadoes form in the Midwest and head over to the East. Tornadoes cause a lot of damage but kill few fortunately. I'm pretty sure these things can be seen from space. Oklahoma is the center of tornadoes. It is called Tornado Alley. Scientists still do not know the exact mechanisms by which most tornadoes form, and occasional tornadoes still strike without a tornado warning being issued. Some people chase and study tornadoes. This tornado has hit the Gulf Coast and Texas. The death toll from all tornadoes in US every year is 60.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE

Bernie Sanders thinks that it is unfair for people that have been in jail for about 5 years, must be freed. The ones that were super bad, examples:accused for murder, raiding towns, etc. shouldn't be freed.

This is crazy. More people are in jail, that's what Bernie Said. He said most people have to have freedom, and the ones that are not worthy of getting freedom, accused for murder, raiding towns, etc.

Constantinople 2

Constantinople was conquered by the Ottoman turks. These Turks conquered the Byzantine empire, but left Constantinople because it was too strong. Ottoman Turks originate from modern day turkey. They started off as a few tribes and became a whole nation! They were very strong! They soon reached Constantinople and attacked! Then the leader/king of turks, was pretending to be nice and sending letters, but he was building the first ever cannons! Constantinople found out and sent protesters but their heads were chopped off! :O  Then the Turks got ready to fight but the cannons were not enough. Constantinople was on a peninsula with water on 1 side. The turks rolled boats with logs over to the ships! The people of Constantinople said that they would win when the moon turns dark. They didn't win! The emperor of Byzantium was killed in the fight. Now the Ottoman turks owned Constantinople and the Byzantium empire! They play an important part in history of how they defeated Constantinople.

Ever heard of a city named Instanbul/Constantinople? Well there was a king there 1700 years ago named Constantine. He was the king of asia minor. He has a famous story of him winning a battle. Constantine was in a fight when he gets a vision from Jesus saying, "In hoc sigmes vinces." It means put the + mark on your shields and you will win the battle. He became very religious after that. He was born Feb. 27th, 272.

toooday by jack

Today I read story of the world the 1st book. I reviewed the nomads and Sumerians. The sumerians had their own city country. And Kish conquered it all by Sargon. Sargon was found floating down a river in a basket when he was like 0-1. He was found by a king's servant and the king's servant raised him. He became the water tester and drank water to see if he would not die. The king trusted him and his friends (like the general) killed the king and Sargon ruled in his new country, Asseria. There was a city that was no match for him so he avoided it. Babylon. He soon died and his sons ruled but they weren't that good. The government fell apart and the king of Babylon, Hamurrabi, took over. Hamurrabi made the first set of laws that we know of. The code of Hamurrabi was harsh. Example: if you stole an animal, you would have to pay 10x its cost and if you don't have the money, the would be put to death. It is harsh right? And that's my favorite thing today!

George Washington Part 1 and parrotsJack

George Washington has a complicated family. His fathers name is Augustine. Augustine taught George Washington to never lie. And so he didn't. When GW chopped down the families favorite tree, he told the truth. When he accidently killed his mom's colt/horse, he told no lie. He listed 102 things to do in life when he was young. He also went to the army after his father died.

Parrots are a type of bird living in South America, Central and Southern Africa, Southern Asia, and Australia. These birds have been known to speak many languages, including one that can speak over 500 languages in Congo! There are 393 species of parrot and 92 genera.Cacatuoidea (cockatoos)
Psittacoidea (true parrots), and Strigopoidea (New Zealand parrots). These birds use their polydactyl feet to eat, grab, fish, etc. These birds rely on their feet to eat. Parrots have many colorful plumages. Cockatoos and New Zealand Parrots may be different, but they are still groups of parrots.

Seabird

Seabird was looking for her mate when a snowstorm happened. She met a whaler and            distracted a young man named Ezra. When seabird flew away, Ezra found an iceberg. She saved the whaler! Then Ezra traded with an Eskimo for 2 Walrus tusks. Ezra carved the 2 tusks into the Seabird. He thought the seabird gave the Whaler luck. Then they found a right wale. The whole crew fought hard for this whale, and the Captain and Ezra bet on when the whale would breach. Captain said 30 minutes and Ezra said 5. If Ezra won, he would have a dinner with Captain. If Captain won, more work for him! Then Ezra got promoted and now he had a son. His son's name was Nathaniel. He taught Nathaniel all about the sea. Ezra said he could swim before he could walk. He was diving 10feet when he was about 5. His father let him use Seabird for traveling and Ezra bought a boat and crew. He went through the South Sea with his son all the way to San Francisco.  A mean guy on the crew took seabird and dropped her in 90 ft water! Nate dove down to receive the lucky charm. He went 90 ft down! Ezra then took him to Hawaii to play with the Natives. Nate too had a son! He named his son Jim. Jim was fond of boats until 3. He then became interested in engines. He wanted the new steamboats to be screwed with valves not throwing in coal! He found a way for his father's new company to get more money! He soon became a ship designer and built fancier ships, with more and better food, seats, beds, and easier jobs. Then Jim had a son named Ken. No no no! Don't think that Ezra is dead. Ezra has been working and is 105. Ken is 5 years old when Ezra is 105. He goes to the pier with little Ken and they talk about what Ken should do in his life, and how he would visit India and China.

The Phantom Tollbooth Part 1

So a sad kid named Milo finds doing stuff wasteful in school. Like subtracting turnips. Then he drove home in his small car and found a big box in his house. It was huge. Milo opened it up and it was a tollbooth. He read instructions and found it said to not waste time. Then there was a map. It said some countries he never heard of like Dictionopolis. He traveled there. He found a sunny place and was told that this is a word world. He was not in Dictionopolis yet. He traveled more. He got lost in a place where thinking, laughing, pretty much everything wasting time was illegal. He found these weird people crawling over him and told him this stuff. Then he met this Guard Dog called Tock even though he ticked. He became friends with Milo and told him that his brother's name was Tick but he Tocked. His parents tried to rename him but his name was permanent.

They are at Dictionopolis! They find people selling words and Milo and the dog are like, That's weird. Then they find a litteraly, giant spelling bee flying above them. They got scared but then the bee said, I'm safe to be around. Then there was a humbug and the humbug was bad. He got Milo and the Dog in jail for 6 million years! They didn't do anything.

Declaration of Independence

The Declaration was signed on July 4th, 1776. It was a way to tell the British that they were United and were going to fight. There were many stamp acts that they loathed. They wrote these acts down. One that you fed British soldiers and let them sleep with you, Tax on sugar, Tax on paper, Tax on tea, TAXES ON ALMOST EVERYTHING! They were mad. So 12 of the States ( Georgia didn't show up ) showed up to the 1st Congress ever. They talked about what they need to do and they wrote an appeal to King George III. King George ignored it and kept taxing.

The 2nd Congress, Ben Franklin edited the Declaration. Georgia came and the Declaration was signed. There were 56 Participants. There is a phrase called John Hancock and he wrote the biggest signature. Now people say go and John Hancock your name!

They asked Thomas Jefferson to write the Declaration on what they want and how they are going to become a United Nation. They also asked General Washington to go to war with them. And guess what! It was 1000 British troops against 14,000 Americans! We won out Independence and became a country! If not, we would use the kilo system, ride on the left side of the road, and would have different accents. King George is bad and he lost. We won! That is a relief. Now the country can flourish without taxing from England!

Alligator Gars

Alligators Gars are not what they seem. They are fish that look like Alligators. These Gars actually hunt alligators! They live in rivers in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama/South East USA.

Instead of scales, they have bony plates. Their strong teeth can break bone and flesh/chop an alligator in half. Gars are 10 ft long. These things only hunt the baby alligators and fish. They existed until the early Cretaceous. These things are stalking, ambush predators. These things can get up to 250-350 pounds! If you have seen one in a picture, THEY ARE HUGE!

Just imagine something 10-15 ft long, and about 1 1/2 ft wide swimming, waiting for food. These are the biggest of 7 species of gar. Gar have 2 front fins, and 2 back fins, with a big tail at the end. They have a big snout with hundreds of VERY sharp teeth. I recommend not fishing for one. These are really cool fish. You should look at some images on google of these fish. Its crazy!

A Long Walk To Water: A True Story

Salva was born in 1974 and was 11 when the South Sudan war struck. He lost his family except he fled with other people and found his uncle. He found family! They traveled East to Kenya and Ethiopia to a refugee camp. But on the way through the desert, They met bad people! The people killed his uncle and took the adult's clothes ;-;. They weren't interested in Salva's clothes. The group got to a refugee camp! The camp was bad. Not enough food. So Salva made a group of 1500 people called the "Lost Boys". Salva led them to Ethiopia for a better camp. There Salva met an aid-worker who liked Salva and taught him English. At that camp there was a list for orphans who would fly to America! Salva wanted to be on that list but instead he played lots of volleyball. Months later he was on the list! He said goodbye to the aid-worker and flew to Hamburg, Germany. Then Salva flew to Rochester, New York. He met his new family and went to college. He thought his family would laugh at him for wearing that many clothes, but they didn't. 6 years later, he was on the family computer and he got an email from a cousin in Zimbabwe, Someone he barely knew. The email said, United Nations         clinic     your father          Stomach Surgery. His father was alive! He planned going there for months but he needed permits. He finally got to the clinic and met his father! They haven't seen each other in 19 years! The sad thing was that 2 of his brothers died. ;-;    He moved back to Sudan and raised money from schools in NY to make wells for people who need water. Hard to believe all of this is true!

Arabia boat

There is this boat called the Steamboat Arabia. It sunk 174 years ago in the Missouri! People have found it 20 years ago and put it in a museum. The boat was crafted in 1853. It sunk 3 years later. 130 Passengers were on it, but they all survived because the Missouri is shallow.

There was lots of whiskey on the boat and it floated away and people heard this because they liked drinking :O. This ship sunk into the Missouri because the sand and mud swallowed it. The Museum took the boat and put it in the museum. The cells in wood that keeps wood together washed away so the museum people have to soak the wood daily to keep it intact. That is crazy!

This boat was sunken by a fallen tree on the river I think. Imagine a huge steamboat just sinking! Thankfully the crew and passengers survived. They found this steamboat on a cornfield! On land! Try to guess how a boat gets there ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)  There is something called meandering. A river never stays in one place. A river erodes and makes a new path. So the river is like this. ----_-----_______---.
And then 100 years later its like -____________---...:-----. The Museum retrieved many artifacts like cups, barrels, personal items, cans, gems, or anything you can find on a sunken boat. You can find this museum in Kansas City, Missouri. It'd be a cool place to visit! See colonial items and a tour of the boat.

Old Yeller/Yellow by Jack

Travis is a 14 year old boy when his father leaves their settlement, Salt Licks. Travis is in charge of his Mom, and his annoying little brother Arliss. Work was hard for the household until Old Yeller came. Old Yeller was a stray dog they found a few days after their father left. They had lots of cattle, and a old mule named Jumper. Work was hard. Milking cows, hunting deer, checking eggs etc. Life was hard for their family. Old Yeller got his name for how he barks, and how he is yellow. Travis caught him in their meat cellar. He kicked the dog and his little bother threw rocks at Travis. Then Arliss claimed the dog as his but it is not his. Arliss and Yeller find bigger creatures and bring them home like opossums, rats, mice, lizards, and toads. Then Arliss and Yeller find a baby bear cub and take it for no reason. Then they have a charging bear after them. Arliss is bad. Then they find Arliss streaking in their drinking water! Then Yeller saves Travis by boars. They are friends now.
Their family meets someone who claims Yeller! That is bad. But then the man says, you will trade me food for Yeller. They keep Yeller. The man warns Travis that there is a hydrophobia plague around! Travis and Yeller meet more boars in the future. Travis is out hunting boars by a bat cave, and they meet a bunch of boars. This is bad because the boars are mad! Travis gets stuck and then gets stabbed by a boar! OMG. Then Old Yeller saves him but almost dies! Yeller gets a deep cut on his stomach and you can see his muscles! Then the mom sews him up. Travis and Yeller rest for 1 month. They have a helper. Then the plague attacks their cows! They burn up the bodies of the dead cows so no animal gets the plague from eating it. Same thing with a bull that died on their lawn. Then the helper and everyone except Travis, went to get wood. They come back with a wolf chasing them! The wolf went mad. Then it bites Old Yeller! Old Yeller gets the plague so Travis had to do the saddest thing. Shoot him. Poor Dog D:
