Declaration of Independence

The Declaration was signed on July 4th, 1776. It was a way to tell the British that they were United and were going to fight. There were many stamp acts that they loathed. They wrote these acts down. One that you fed British soldiers and let them sleep with you, Tax on sugar, Tax on paper, Tax on tea, TAXES ON ALMOST EVERYTHING! They were mad. So 12 of the States ( Georgia didn't show up ) showed up to the 1st Congress ever. They talked about what they need to do and they wrote an appeal to King George III. King George ignored it and kept taxing.

The 2nd Congress, Ben Franklin edited the Declaration. Georgia came and the Declaration was signed. There were 56 Participants. There is a phrase called John Hancock and he wrote the biggest signature. Now people say go and John Hancock your name!

They asked Thomas Jefferson to write the Declaration on what they want and how they are going to become a United Nation. They also asked General Washington to go to war with them. And guess what! It was 1000 British troops against 14,000 Americans! We won out Independence and became a country! If not, we would use the kilo system, ride on the left side of the road, and would have different accents. King George is bad and he lost. We won! That is a relief. Now the country can flourish without taxing from England!
